Common Name
The Korean Fir (Abies koreana) is a small tree with purplecones that become brown as they mature in the summer. This evergreen has flattened needles 1/2 to 1″ long and that are green on top and have two white spotson the underside. Like other fir trees, the needles are attachedto the branch by a base resembling a suction cup. The tree grows in a pyramidal shapeand isused as a Christmas tree. The Korean fir was introduced to the West by Enrnest Wilson in 1917.
